Johnston Band Bucks Scrip Program
When you buy scrip, you are purchasing gift cards for local and national merchants that can be used like cash. With access to hundreds of the biggest brands and merchants, you’ll find cards you can use at grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants, movie theaters, home improvement stores, and almost any business that accepts gift cards. With every purchase, you earn money for the Johnston Band Parents Association and your child’s trip account which can be applied to the triennial spring band trip for 10th, 11th, and 12th grade band students. Congratulations to 9th Grade All State Band Members
Congratulations to Johnston Middle School 9th grade band students Rachel Li, flute, and Shana Hudson, bass clarinet, on their selection to the Iowa All State Band. Membership in an All State ensemble is the highest honor a high school music student can achieve in the state of Iowa. Only 17% of those students who audition are accepted. Membership is an honor at any age, but it is a particularly impressive achievement for freshmen, as the audition pool includes students in grades 9 - 12.
Congratulations as well to 9th grade alto sax player Tim Zuo; Tim was selected as an alternate for the All State Band. Rachel and Shana will join JHS All State Band members Vivian Wu, Lauren Stephens, Karen Chen, Sam Altier, Ben Parsons, Brian Cherrier, Duncan Sinclair, and Blake Wilson at the All State Music Festival in Ames on November 17 – 19.
